Sticking to the system…

In November I started a 30 day series of commitments to begin the improvement of my health and wellness. The ultimate goal was to create a new habit of working out/being active on a daily basis while tweaking other habits that are more on the negative side to have a sexier and healthier body. Plus, my family has the tendency and history of health issues and letting the belly go square. So each month I gradually challenged myself to commit to doing something every day with different types of workouts and watching what I eat. Up until May I was rocking the system and felt amazing! Then all of a sudden May and June came and went and the wanted results were not there. Hmm… how is this possible? I still kept my commitment to daily workouts and was for the most part pretty healthy with my meals and it has been more than six months. At one point I went from 126 lbs to 117 lbs (woo hoo!), but am back to 120 lbs. What was the change, what happened?

Well, today I figured it out. After finishing my Insanity Core Cardio and Balance workout with Adam I sat down with a Women’s Health magazine and started reading article after article. In the back of my mind I knew I was missing something, everything that I was reading were no brainers… And then Poof! There it was. I had figured it out. The sad part is that I have known all along what I was doing differently but paid no attention to the simplicity of the matter. Do you want to know what it is? Here it is… From the beginning I knew I needed to stay accountable, so I set up a tracking system that had 1) my 30 day calendar 2) my goal and 3)  a visual with my face on the body I want to keep me motivated. Each month I printed a new sheet and kept track of my activity! Guess what I didn’t do in May and June… Yep! You’ve got it! I stopped tracking my activity and had no visuals or affirmations. Hellooo…that was what pushed me to really make sure I did what I said I would in the manner I challenged myself to do so. But I am back on the system. I have 30 more days with Shaun T’s Insanity series so I have my tracking sheet, images/affirmations and my goal posted! Let’s rock the next 30 days!

Here is an example of one of my visuals…let’s see how close I get over the next 30 days 🙂
