An Incredible 2011 Kraft Year

5…4…3…2…1…Happy New Year!! The fireworks ignited, the champagne bubbled, Adam and Laura shouted with joy and gave each other a great big smooch, excited for the New Year to come. Little did they know that 2011 would be an epic year full of multiple lifetime memorable events.

Just ten days into the New Year, the frigid cold and a thick blanket of snow led Adam and Laura to their first lifetime event. Laura came home from work and stepped into a CSI crime scene like what you would see in a movie. While Adam and Laura were out, their house was burglarized by a group of professional really bad guys who managed to take everything of value you can think of…Fortunately, these rascally rabbits did not harm their puppies, our super-hero-like family and friends were by our sides and, even though some things in life are irreplaceable and of significant emotional value, our insurance covered the costs of the “replaceables” with little dispute. After everything was said and done, this life event turned into a blessing in disguise and allowed Adam and Laura to make changes in the house they have been meaning to do for quite some time.

Following a wonderful Valentine’s weekend…In the midst of all the CSI excitement…Adam and Laura discovered the next memorable event that would change their lives for the better…Yep! You guessed it; the solid blue lines meant their dynamic duo would now become a terrific trio! Besides some very sleepy First Trimester days, Laura’s pregnancy experience was as smooth as a baby’s bottom, ha ha! 

Once the news was out, the two giddy parents-to-be took a quick trip out to Texas during Laura’s Spring Break to visit Laura’s sister in Bullard, and Adam’s brother and sister-in-law in Montgomery/Woodlands. Upon returning, Adam helped launch a product he had been working on for two years.  The launch of Bridge the GAP marked the third major lifetime event of 2011. The launch was a success, the feedback has been great and they are currently looking into digitizing the system as a tablet app. Keep an eye out and ear open for what happens in 2012!

April snuck up on the two quickly and before they knew it everybody was in the know and Laura received the World Language Department Coordinator position at Laredo Middle School. This three year commitment is very uncommon for non-tenured young teachers to the building; however Laura was honored to accept and is up to the challenge. With spring in full session Laura celebrated 28 years and the two were well into planning their next world travels. Before the two whipper snappers began their “little” trip to Europe Adam celebrated 30 wonderful years! Adam is looking forward to the incredible experiences to come in his fourth decade on this strange green and thriving planet.

Then …they went to a Sex Party! No, not that kind, you silly little scamps…The kind that lets everyone know whether you are having a boy or girl. After all the bets were placed, upon the opening of a tightly sealed envelope it was revealed they would be having a little girl.

Once school was out, the following day Adam and Laura set flight to Spain. They visited wonderful sites, enjoyed their fair share of delicious cuisine, and took advantage of the beautiful parks and beaches in Barcelona, Calella and Figueres. With a little hop skip and a jump the lovebirds took a mini, overnight, cruise ship to Livorno, Italy to start the second phase of their trip. With the crazy Italian transportation system they took the train to Corniglia to meet up with the older siblings for a fun series of mini-hikes and pizza devouring in Cinque Terre! The rest of their time in Italy the two spent a week in a beautiful villa in Vernio, Tuscany with all the Kraft family members and Adam’s Grandma Marge. Not only did they tour a parmesan cheese factory and balsamic vinegar estate, they indulged themselves with visits to Florence, Padova, Venice and Verona…a total of 3 wonderful weeks!

The rest of the summer consisted of family weddings, baby preparations, baby showers and many ovely walks with the puppies. Before they knew it only 2 months were left, Laura’s school year started and Adam was well into a handful of new projects. The two celebrated 3 years of marriage with a weekend in Keystone and a Hibachi dinner at Mt. Fuji’s. To prepare themselves the best they could, they attended a four week Childbirth course with incredible families, some with which they look forward to share many more memories to come.

After their 39 week appointment Adam and Laura decided to go to a matinee movie and per the recommendation of Adam’s oldest brother they went to Casa Vallarta for enchiladas…Less than twelve hours later Adam and Laura were headed to Skyridge Hospital. Within the blink of an eye, Adalyse Teresa Kraft was born on October 14th, 2011 at 5:14pm. She was 19 inches long and 6 lbs 11.5 oz. After Adam and Laura took a moment to introduce themselves to their daughter, the new grandparents, aunts and uncles were invited in to meet her and welcome her to the family.

The Kraft trio has been running full speed ahead ever since! From birthday parties, Halloween candy distribution, choir, band, orchestra and symphony concerts, family Thanksgiving dinners of 39, holiday decorating, state travel, mommy and baby play dates, sleeping in with daddy days and so on, they look forward to what lies ahead for the following years to come.
